Shirleena Kathryn Terrell, affectionately known as SKT, is a multifaceted artist, educator, and advocate for the arts dedicated to inspiring and uplifting others. Born and raised in Omaha, NE, Shirleena discovered her love for singing and dancing in church under her mother’s guidance, igniting a lifelong passion to encourage others through creativity and song.

As a singer, songwriter, and performer, SKT is known for her soulful voice, powerful lyrics, and magnetic stage presence. Her artistry extends beyond music into dance and theater. Shirleena’s journey in dance led her to perform at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York, with her group, Fanamanon. She also co-founded Salem Baptist Church’s Spirits in Movement Dance Troupe and became a member of the UNO Moving Dance Company.

Committed to making the arts accessible for all, Shirleena co-founded Love Dance Fitness, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering inclusivity through dance. Her artistic talents also include acting; she made her debut at the Community Playhouse in 1989 at the tender age of four.

In addition to her creative accomplishments, Shirleena is academically accomplished, holding a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Hampton University and a master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). She is currently working on her doctoral degree in Education Administration also from UNL.
