I’ve been praying fervently for years now for God to move in certain areas of my life ie career, finances, housing, school, love, etc. But, as I prayed, God reminded me of all that he had already done in my life. My mind suddenly shifted from longing for more, to thanking him for ALL that he had already done. I began to thank God for his amazing love and consistency in my life. His love is SO AMAZING!

Special Thank you to the fellow musicians who helped me put this song together.
sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/45873882017-02-12T20:59:48-06:002017-02-12T20:59:48-06:00A Super Bowl Experience!
Since I currently reside in Houston, TX, I thought it would only be fitting to participate in this years Super Bowl Experience. Along side some amazing singers and believers all over Houston, I sung at the Tailgate outside the Reliant Stadium before the game, for Super Bowl fans who travel near and far to see the Falcons face the Patriots. Like the saying all that glitters is not gold. We faced many challenges and overcame many obstacles that weekend. For 1) We had to be very flexible, as we had to undergo many changes and be willing to adjust quickly. 2) They canceled one of our performances, but instead of soaking and wallowing in self pitty we took our message to the street and sung to patrons out enjoying the NFL experience.
sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/5125522013-04-11T12:49:30-05:002013-04-11T12:49:30-05:00Just Life! In life there are always going to be disappoinments and accomplishments, setbacks and comebacks, winners and loosers. It's just life. It's how you deal with each situation that determines the outcome. When facing dissktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/5048812013-04-10T15:13:11-05:002013-04-10T15:13:11-05:00Endurance!While researching the meaning of endurance, I came across the following definitions:

1. The fact or power of enduring or bearing pain, hardships, etc.
2.The ability or strength to continue or last, especially despite fatigue, stress, or other adverse conditions; stamina:
3. Lasting quality; duration: His friendships have little endurance.
4. Something endured, as a hardship; trial.

It's so easy to throw in the towel. It's much more easier to just give up. But God wants "fighters." God wants people with faith like Job who declared, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will defend my own ways before him." I just want to encourage you to fight the good fight of faith. Don't give up now, you've come wayyyyyyy too far to turn around now.

sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/4945352013-04-09T09:50:00-05:002013-04-09T09:50:00-05:00Trust with all your heart! In this life you will have many times, many moments, and many situations when you feel like you're continuously climbing an up hill battle. There are many days I ask myself, "Lord, where is the light in this tunnel." "When will my struggle end." But, deep deep down in my heart, I know the Lord loves me and, I recite Jeremiah 29:11 to myself. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "Plans not to harm you, but to give you hope and a future." I will trust in the Lord, even through my up hill battles, and in the end God's will and His plan is what's best for me.

Things always seem like there never going to change. Hard times always tend to go way longer then we planned. But then we must stop, and reflect on those old saying from the wise. "Trouble don't last always." "Joy comes in the morning." "The sun will come out tomorrow." We must look through our eyes of faith, and reflect upon Romans 12:12... Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Whatever it is you're working towards Keep Fighting, Keep Pushing, Keep Praying, Keep Reading, Keep Seeking, Keep Knocking, Keep Asking, Keep Keeping On. Fight the good fight of faith, and look through your eyes of faith. sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1647572013-03-13T18:00:00-05:002013-03-13T18:00:00-05:00How To Do More With LessOften times, we'll look at our situations and say "if I just had this, I could do that; if I just had more money more people, then I could do this. Many times God looks back at us and says, If you would just use what you have, I'll bless you with this and that. I had the opportunity to hear Dr. D.Z. Cofield, Pastor of Good Hope M.B.C in Houston, TX speak and he gave some awesome advice on how to do more with less. He stated that we must Trust God when what he says does not make sense with how we feel. God will tell you who you are, but we as humans don't believe it because we can't see past our situations. He used Judges 6:14-15 as an example, where the Lord told Gideon to go and deliver the people of Isreal from the hands of the Midians. However, Gideon asked the Lord, how could he do such a thing when his family was the weakest in the city, and he was the youngest in his family. God wants to use you with what you have right now. Don't worry about what you don't have. When you begin to use what you do have, he'll bless you with more. Work with what you got!

SKT
sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1571752012-04-13T05:00:00-05:002012-04-13T05:00:00-05:00Your Breakthrouh Is On Layaway! While visiting Higher Dimension on the Southwest side of Houston, TX., Pastor Terrence Johnson (affectionately known as Pastor J) gave an interesting analogy to breakthroughs and layaway. He empasized that it's already yours, and that God made the down payment. But it's up to you to get it out. He went on to give three key points as to how to get your breakthrough off of layaway.

1) Be Obedient
He talked about obeying God, and surrendering your life to His will. I talk with alot of peole, and they always say things like, I wonder why I haven't made it. Well a lot of times it's due to the fact that we're pursing things that God didn't intend for us. As people, we take the long way around, when if we'd followed God's plan in the first place, we probably would have reached our destiny's by now. He gave Deuteronomy 28:11 as an example. "If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth."

2) Maturity
He went on to discuss how many of us have not received our Breakthroughs because we're simply not mature enough to handle it yet. There are somethings we have to go through, we have to endure to grow and stretch our faith.

And Last but surely not least.....

3) Humility
The last point he made to drive his point home was that we must be humble. He stated that people who are humble will be exalted. I like it how when people don't brag on their accomplishments or successes, but let them speak on their own.

So be blessed, and know your breakthrough is on layaway, it's already yours, and God has made the downpayment. However, it's up to you to do the rest!!!!!!

Tough situations are always extremely difficult while you are in them, but we all know they don’t last forever. Like the old saying, “Trouble doesn’t last always.” Here’s a list of reasons why you should stay in your tough situation.

1) You become stronger and more resilient to pain
2) You can help or testify to someone going through the same situation
3) You will be a living witness of how to survive
4) Tough situations build character
5) God sees somthing in you. God would never put more on you than you could bear; therefore, he feels you are tough enough to endure the pain.
6) You discover a power within yourself you never knew you had
7) Your self-esteem is built
8) You learn more about yourself
9) When you overcome tough situations you are always lifted to a higher level in life. Think about it in terms of wrestling.
My brother is a wrestler so I had to privilege of watching this first hand. Once a person is declared a winner on one level, they are then elevated to the next level. The person who makes it through all the levels is then declared as the champion.

Remember, you are a champion; God is taking you through your tough situation so he can elevate you.

SKT

sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1509292012-03-24T04:20:00-05:002012-03-24T04:20:00-05:00Consistency is Key!I've learned one of the key components to success is consistency. You have to be consistent in the pursuit of your hustle, dreams, or goals. Think of it in terms of loosing weight. In order to loose weight, you have to create a regimen of either working out or changing your eating habits, then doing that consistently over a period of time. On your first day you will not see results. But, over a period of time if you have remained consistent in your regimen, you will slowly see results.

It’s the same with our dreams and goals. If you want to see results in a particular area of your life, create a plan of execution; get into a regular routine and stay consistent. The problem occurs when we have our plan, we are in our regular regimen, and we are not seeing results. However, this is the time when we need to remain the most faithful. Isaiah 40:31 states “but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Stay on it. Stay Consistent!

SKT

sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1498802012-03-20T12:08:07-05:002012-03-20T12:08:07-05:00Who is supposed to call who?I had a young man to ask me who I had not seen in a while, "why haven't you called me." I didn't know how to respond or what to think. Then I thought to myself, you are the man, you are the pursuer, your supposed to call me. I feel once the lady expreses a mutual interest, it is then the males responsibility to initate things and proceed with the courtship. Proverbs 18:22 states, "He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD." So while your waiting on me to call you, I'm waiting on my husband to find me. So who is supposed to call who?

SKT

sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1488182012-03-17T04:45:08-05:002012-03-17T04:45:08-05:00I Have Plans for You “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Jeremiah 29:11. This is my favorite scripture of all time. I know I say that often, but this really is my favorite scripture.

I know I’m guilty of making my own plans. But God has to have a sense of humor. Award-winning movie screenwriter Woody Allen thinks so too, as he stated, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.”

It took a while for me to give up my own plans; it was a struggle. But, I did when I discovered my own plans were not working, CLEARLY! That’s when I told God, I give up, and I surrender all. What really took the cake was when I lost my father, and I had to leave my job, and everything behind to tend to his affairs. The only thing that kept me, was repeating this to myself:

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I found peace in knowing that even through one of the darkest moments in my life, God still had plans for me, and no matter what, His will is what’s best for me.

SKT

sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1485292012-03-16T04:00:00-05:002012-03-16T04:00:00-05:00Put Your Thinking Cap OnRemember in elementary, when your teacher used to tell you to “put your thinking cap on.” It was a phrase to encourage you to sit down and focus, think hard, take careful consideration, and really figure something out. The phrase derives from the 17th century term, considering cap.

Today I encourage you to put your thinking cap on. Whatever dream or goal you have, really sit down and think about how you can get there. Next write it down. Habakkuk 2:2-3 states: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

Lastly, execute your plan. Put to action the things you wrote down and really implement it.

Put your thinking cap on,
SKT

sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1482382012-03-15T05:50:00-05:002012-03-15T05:50:00-05:00The How Is None of Your Business! One day I was complaining to a friend: I don’t know how I’m going to do this, I don’t know how I’m going to pay for this, I just don’t know how this is going to happen. Well that friend said something to me that resonated in my spirit, “the how is none of your business.” Then that old saying popped up in my head, when you’re up to nothing, God is up to something, and if you take the first step, he’ll take two. So I’ve learned that if you just do what you can do: read, write, network, sharpen your skills, study up on the latest industry trends, and leave the rest up to God, he will work out all the logistics, the “How.” Sometimes when we don’t see things happening right away, we think nothing is happening. That’s when we need to step back, take a break, breath and WHOOOO SAWWW. Then come back later rejuvenated. Many of us know what we want to be or do, but don’t know how to get there. I know for myself, God will usually show me the end result, but the middle is a gray area. But that is the journey, or the climb. When you begin to enjoy the journey, and stop worrying about the details, then that’s when you begin the process of “let go and let God.” Don’t worry about how you’re going to get there, because the “How” is none of your business! Relax and enjoy the climb.

SKT

sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1478102012-03-14T04:06:57-05:002012-03-14T04:06:57-05:00One Night StandI love that saying; there is a time for everything. According to Ecclesiastes 3:4, there is a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. It is ok to weep, it’s ok to cry sometimes, but let it be for one night only. Weeping should be a one night stand.

Don’t continue to allow the same people, places, or things continuously get you down. Give weeping one night only. The enemy knows the best place to attack you is in your mind. So your mind will replay back those same scenarios that had you weeping before, and you’ll end up weeping over situations that happened years ago. Weeping should be for one night only. Weeping should be a one night stand.

If certain places or people take your mind back to hurtful situations, stop your mind in its tracks. Say Lord, please take these thoughts away from me. Walk away. Do whatever you have to do to prevent your mind from going back down memory lane.

One of my favorite scriptures of all times comes from Psalms 30:5. For his anger endures but for a moment; and in his favor is for a lifetime: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Have a Blessed Day,
SKT

sktmusic.comtag:sktmusic.com,2005:Post/1455722012-03-12T19:15:00-05:002012-03-12T19:15:00-05:00What to do While You're Waiting on your Breakthrough
Rejuvenate Yourself
Study, read, learn, pray, and meditate. Do whatever you have to do to renew your mind and spirit so that you feel refreshed, energized, and revitalized.

Perfect Your Craft
Ok so you don’t have the finances right now to fund your next project, continue reading, studying, and perfecting your craft. Practice the things you’ve already learned and continue perfecting them. Work on whatever you can that doesn’t require financing, so when finances are released you have a plan of execution.

Visualize Yourself Coming Out of Your Situation
Seeing is believing! Speak those things that are not as though they were. Use the power of faith to break out of your situation!

Live a Life of Expectancy
Before every major event or victory I encountered, I always felt something on the inside first. Something would move in my spirit. See yourself prospering through the eyes of faith. Than praise God in advance for your victory. When the praises go up, blessings come down.

Trust Him
Don’t get caught up in a “why” self-pity mind frame: Why isn’t anything working for me? Why is God not answering my prayers? Why is this not happening for me? God is working behind the scenes. He is in complete control, he’s always on time, and His plan is what’s best for you.

Wait
I find this last step to be the most difficult: the waiting process. Be patient, repeat steps one and two: rejuvenate yourself and perfect your craft. Keep yourself busy by doing things that you love. Get active in your community or church. Then wait some more. Those that wait on the Lord will renew their strength. Timing is out of your control. So release those things that you can’t control. When you do this, you also release frustration, fatigue, worry and stress; be patient and wait.

sktmusic.com
